File Preparation & Artwork Guidelines

Get the Best Results From Your DTF Printing

At 725DTF, we want every design to print with vibrant colors, sharp details, and professional-quality results. Proper artwork preparation is essential for producing high-quality DTF transfers and custom gang sheets.

Follow these guidelines before uploading your artwork to ensure your files are ready for printing.

1. Accepted File Formats

For the best printing results, we recommend:

  • PNG (Recommended): High-resolution artwork with a transparent background.

  • PDF: High-quality, print-ready files with correct dimensions.

  • AI / EPS / SVG: Vector artwork suitable for professional printing, subject to compatibility and review.

Important: PNG is our preferred format for DTF gang sheets and individual transfers. Other formats should be confirmed with our team before submission.

2. Image Resolution & Quality

For clear, professional DTF printing, your artwork should meet these recommendations:

  • Recommended Resolution: 300 DPI at the final printing size.

  • Minimum Recommended Resolution: 150 DPI for suitable artwork, although results may vary.

  • Image Quality: Sharp, clean, and properly sized.

  • Avoid: Blurry images, pixelated graphics, screenshots, and low-resolution downloads.

Important: Increasing the DPI setting of a low-resolution image does not automatically improve its quality. Always start with the highest-quality original artwork available.

3. Transparent Background Requirements

For most DTF transfers, artwork should have a fully transparent background.

  • Remove unwanted white or colored backgrounds.

  • Use PNG files with transparency whenever possible.

  • Avoid unwanted shadows, background boxes, and stray pixels.

  • Check artwork edges for unwanted outlines or halos.

Note: White elements that are intentionally part of your design should remain in the artwork. Only remove backgrounds you do not want printed.

4. Correct Artwork Size & Dimensions

Always prepare your artwork at the actual size you want printed.

For example, if your design should measure 10 inches wide, prepare the artwork at 10 inches wide with the appropriate resolution.

  • Maintain the correct proportions.

  • Avoid stretching or distorting designs.

  • Double-check dimensions before uploading.

  • Ensure artwork fits within the selected gang sheet size.

We recommend checking all measurements carefully before placing your order.

5. DTF Gang Sheet Preparation

When creating or uploading a custom DTF gang sheet, follow these guidelines:

  1. Set the correct canvas size based on the gang sheet dimensions you are ordering.

  2. Use a transparent background throughout the sheet.

  3. Arrange designs efficiently to maximize available printing space.

  4. Leave sufficient spacing between individual designs for easy cutting.

  5. Check every design for correct size, alignment, and image quality.

  6. Export at high resolution without unwanted compression.

Important: Do not overlap designs or place artwork outside the printable area. Your uploaded gang sheet should be fully arranged and ready for printing.

6. Colors & Design Details

DTF printing supports full-color graphics, detailed illustrations, and colorful artwork.

For the best results:

  • Use high-quality RGB artwork, unless different color settings are specified for your order.

  • Choose strong, well-defined colors.

  • Avoid extremely thin lines and tiny text.

  • Remove unwanted transparent effects or stray pixels.

  • Review gradients, shadows, and fine details carefully.

Color Disclaimer: Printed colors may differ slightly from what you see on your monitor due to screen settings, artwork profiles, printer calibration, and printing materials. Exact screen-to-print color matching is not guaranteed.

7. Fonts, Text & Fine Lines

Small lettering and thin design elements may not reproduce clearly when printed.

We recommend:

  • Using bold, readable fonts for small text.

  • Avoiding extremely thin lettering and delicate lines.

  • Converting fonts to outlines when submitting vector artwork.

  • Checking spelling, punctuation, and text placement.

  • Reviewing small details at their actual print size.

Tip: Simplifying tiny details can improve the overall appearance and durability of your DTF transfer.

8. Artwork Requirements for Screen Printing & Embroidery

In addition to DTF printing, 725DTF offers professional screen printing and custom embroidery services.

Screen Printing:

  • Vector files such as AI, EPS, SVG, or print-ready PDF are recommended.

  • Clearly identify your design dimensions and placement.

  • Specify the desired print colors and garment details.

  • Some artwork may require adjustments for screen printing.

Custom Embroidery:

  • Submit a clear, high-quality logo or design.

  • Vector artwork is preferred when available.

  • Specify the garment type, embroidery location, and approximate size.

  • Complex details, gradients, and tiny lettering may require simplification.

  • Artwork may require embroidery digitizing before production.

Our team can review your project requirements and discuss suitable file options.

9. Common Artwork Mistakes to Avoid

Before submitting your order, check for these common issues:

  • Low-resolution images that appear blurry or pixelated.

  • Unwanted backgrounds behind the design.

  • Incorrect dimensions or stretched graphics.

  • Extremely thin lines or unreadable small text.

  • Unwanted shadows, glows, or transparency effects.

  • Overlapping designs on custom gang sheets.

  • Spelling mistakes or missing design elements.

Reviewing your artwork before uploading helps reduce printing errors and unnecessary delays.

10. Artwork Approval & Customer Responsibility

Customers are responsible for submitting artwork with the correct size, spelling, layout, colors, and design elements.

Please review your files carefully before completing your purchase.

Artwork submitted for printing should be production-ready. If you are unsure about your file quality or need assistance, contact our team before ordering.

Customers must also have the necessary rights or permission to reproduce any submitted logos, graphics, or copyrighted designs.
